Matt Hawkins, MPAS, PA-C – Matt Hawkins is a licensed and certified Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Tennessee who has been working with Orthopaedic Specialists since 2019. As a PA, Matt sees and treats patients in clinic and also assists Dr. Downs in the operating room. Outside of the clinic and OR, Matt also helps manage and care for Dr. Downs’s patients in a variety of hospitals in and around the greater Nashville area. Matt focuses on all areas of orthopaedics with an emphasis on sports medicine, osteoarthritis, and total joint replacements. He works in all Orthopaedic Specialists offices including Nashville, Ashland City, and Dickson.
As a native Nashvillian, Matt completed his undergraduate studies at Lipscomb University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. He went on to receive a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies (MPAS) from the Harding University Physician Assistant program in Searcy, Arkansas where he graduated at the top of his class. While at Harding, Matt also served as the Vice President of his class and was a member of the university’s Interprofessional Education Committee where he presented on a variety of sports related injuries. Matt is currently a fellow member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants.
Matt and his family enjoy being active in and around Nashville and try to get outside every chance they get. As an orthopaedic PA, Matt loves being able to help his patients return to health and the activities they enjoy.
